Sawn Timber
Significant quantities of sawn joinery softwoods, mostly from Scandinavia with a little selection from Europe, are stocked by Griggs.
We make sure that our sawn joinery comes from mills with a long history of producing high-quality products; as a result, we deliver material that is regularly graded in to maintain our excellent reputation. When supplying joinery in its sawn state, this is crucial.
More details about the various grades we offer are provided below, along with a list of the stock sizes we have. At Griggs, we can mill timber to meet your specific preferences. Talk with to our professional team to learn more about your requirements for sawn joinery Timber.
Quality grades of sawn joinery timber:
Unsorted Joinery (Premium Grade)
With the lowest grades removed, this is the best joinery timber available. Unsorted joinery is typically used for items like doors, windows, and stairs where the design is important. For internal mouldings such as skirtings, architraves, and others where a superior finish is required, unsorted timber is also a great idea. Unsorted Joinery has a low knot content, straight grain, and a smooth finish. We use unsorted joinery for the majority of orders as standard unless requested differently.
5th Grade (Standard Grade)
This is the next grade, a more multi-purpose grade, which has a huge variety of uses. 5th Grade is typically used for Cladding, Flooring, Skirting, Architraves, Dado Rail, and many others. 5th Grade Joinery still maintains the smooth finish of unsorted but has a slightly higher knot content.
6th Grade (Contract Grade)
The lowest grade has more flaws and greater knots. It is the perfect use for packaging materials and disposable pallets. The sixth grade may also be applied to specific types of cladding and furniture production, where the defects improve the product's qualities. 6th Grade Joinery has a larger knot content than unsorted, with the grain not necessarily straight.
Centre Free Green Split Joinery
For specialised industries, Center Free Green Split Joinery removes the centre of the log before kilning, further minimising flaws.
Whitewood / Redwood
Redwood predominates in Griggs Timber Company, with some bigger pieces being made of Whitewood. This is appropriate for stair applications and other uses requiring wide timber.
